Well one day speaker stopped working had stereo out nothing there had speaker out all wires are Ok I checked door plug seems good anything els it could be.

I know you said you checked the plug but did you check the wires inside the rubber bellow between the door and plug. My drivers door one was broken when I got it. Failing that if you're still running the stock speakers it may well have died. ...thryre bloody old now.

I have after market plug and play sonys I will attempt to get that rubber apart to have a look tomorrow thank you.

It unscrews from the A pillar. Well just a slight turn

Yup, gonna be broken in the door rubber thing.... had 5 broken wires in total there on my 2 mk3's over the years...

To true, my last golf had a piece of special cable put in both doors and boot.
It snaps inside the insulation most times and you tend to break others playing around with it

slightly off topic but somewhat relevant my drivers window stopped working that snapped in the flexi door joint

I will be super careful when I get a chance to look

Yep, had that one as well.

Have you checked the wires yet? I'm going to have to look at mine soon, driver side not working although I have original speakers still. May try pass side speaker in driver side as that still works, if that's easier to do than check inside that black rubber piping
