Title: Catch can ventilation
Post by: Dave_IOW on 05 January 2014, 22:30
Can't get my head round this, looking for an explanation for an idiot

Won't venting your catch can to atmosphere just be like having a leak in your PCV system?

No, Because you plug the tip where the PCV used to return to.

You go closed system or venting, not half way lol

A leak causes unmetered air to enter the mix; if you bung the TIP hole it will just leak or vent and not affect the mix like Mark says

Indeed, is now deemed illegal too. Gone are the days of heavy breathing Fords and their dodgy crankcase vents

Illegal as won't pass MOT? Will venting a catch can have the same effect at MOT station? Open breathers?

i would assume so as its like you say open ventilation and not fully closed system so there would be oily fumes vented

Dunno about MOT mate but it's an environmental thing really as Matt says
