Is changing the waterpump a straightforward job on 16v? :smiley:

Its not that bad airbox out both fan belts off alternator off then take tensionsor arm bracket off then take the hoses that go to the  waterpump off  then un bolt the water pump.then take the waterpump pulley off to do thst wedge a screwdriver through that hole on the pulley change the thermostat in the waterpump clean  the engine block were the pump sits and use gasket sealer put pulley on new water pump a fit in reverse do not buy a cheap water pump otherwise you will be doing the job again

avoid the metal impeller one from euro's now on my 3rd one! first one bearing failed, second one seal failed, 3rd on seal is now failing!

when a water pump is failing is there any noises i should listen for i have one from euros  :embarrassed:

Also when taking water pump pulley off be careful not to round any bolts off easily done.

The second one i changed sounded so bloody awful everyone thought my exhaust manifold had cracked open.

oem one is plastic impeller, I had a new ish one break and never recovered all this bits but that was my first 14 golf. that's why I went to a metal one. and as far as the failing water pump noise to look out for, when the bearing went it was a long drone kind of sound, and then a squeal went it got so bad the belt slipped. that happened on the dually before I had chance to pull off. when the seal went I just lost coolant, no noise.

Did put a post up a while ago about my car sounding like a London taxi.
someone did say waterpump,and I'm certain after investigating that it is the pump.
So the question is whats the pump to buy?
Bradley sells them think I will trust him?

don't worry about plastic one's, all of vw's come that way.

i sell either febi or bga one's and do the options with or without housing (without are £24 and with are £42 although deals are available for forum member's, just pm me for details)
