Just in case you might not have seen this somewhere already.

Intrigued to know why it's badged a GTI and not an R ???

Like the front and the interior but not keen on that rear bumper.

Wonder how this engine would improve with a tuning box ;)

Beacaue its a marketing tool and the public are familiar with the name 'Golf GTI' so it will get more coverage etc..

One way to get a GTI with twin daytime running lights.  Hope the mirrors fold out on unlocking...

The GTI is an icon. Revealed mid-70s, it introduced the acronym GTI. The R is with as since mk5 (10 years approximately), R doesn't mean anything to the masses. If they ask you "what car do you have?" Your answer would be "GTI" or "Golf R". So, if you were VW what would you do with your special Golf???
