Se when i bought my mk4 i got a month warranty which covered obviously non serviceable parts such ans engine/gearbox/turbo and what have you.
this has now ran out and im getting phone calls asking if i want another 12 months for a price of £225 for the year.
what are your thought and opinions on this, has anyone got a warranty?

id check what warrenty you get with it. my last car I got three months warrenty when I was sold it. they rang up and asked if I wanted to extend it to a year, but id already tried to get a quote off there website for a years warrenty and I couldn't get it because the car was over ten years old, I told them this and they said something along the lines of I can extend the existing warrenty on a car over ten years but I would only get partial cover and not everything would be coverd by the warrenty like a car under ten years old would be. therefore I didn't see the point in taking the warrenty. checked a few different warrenty companies and they all said the same thing, cars over ten years so we don't offer warrenty for it.

Use the money you could spend on insurance on tools instead and fix your own car IF it goes wrong

You'll find it nearly impossible to claim for anything that actually breaks, you'll also struggle to find anywhere that pays a decent amount for labour rates.
You'll be sold the earth, but it'll be a different story come claim time.
If its been well maintained, nothing driveline related should be going wrong. So its likely to be consumable parts or something that costs less than 250 quid to fix.
So all in all, put the money away for if it does go wrong.

I bought a Car Care Plan warranty for my 2007 Touran, £265 a year, but so far they have replaced the passenger door lock and the 1st/2nd gear syncro. They paid it all, although we had a debate over the door lock.

Dont get one... i run a garage and have to deal with these companies.... put £200 to one side for a rainy day

going to tell them to jog on then

my 'rents in law have one with the firm that Quinten Wilson puts his name to http://www.warrantywise.co.uk/. They have nothing but praise and good words for them, even including paying for the fix of an existing problem that their previous Nissan warranty didn't cover

I was given 7 days warranty on mine, first day engine management light was on, all they did was clean egr valve, and wheel bearing change, they cut the abs sensor cables which left me with no abs or traction control, ended up just taking to someone I trust on my car

Not heard good feedback on some of these Aftermarket scaremongers.
Level of cover drops with age and they only pay up to a certain labour rate from what I looked at. If you wanted proper cover it was a silly amount of £££ per year.
Put the money away...at least it's still there if you haven't used it.
