Hi folks just a few observations on the climate windscreen now I have used it in the colder weather. First I had it set to come on automatically via the climate screen but never seemed to come on, unless I was being too impatient, only gave it about 30 secs after ignition. Once manually set it seems you cant run car heating at the same time, so cant get feet warm as well as defrost windscreen, not set on eco! Once on it takes about 4 mins to start to defrost then really works a treat, no fogging etc. Anyone else have any views or found out if you can have heating on as well. It will let you put on rear window and wing mirror heaters on at the same time. Glad I specked it but still don't know why I was stiched up re advanced tel prep!

I was wondering how the climate screen is switched on. So you have to select the front screen deftost setting on the climate? How do you have the climate screen on all the time to stop screen fogging?
-
Climate screen is great - leave it on auto and it will come on when it senses screen is about to fog up. Press the front screen max button and it clears the screen in seconds in the morning

Brilliant. Are all the settings via the touch screen? I pick up my gti in January :)
-
Yes they are - £800 and VW don't even give you a physical button for the thing!
-
But is the point not that it's left in auto and not something you'd need to turn on manually on its own (ie with no air blowers).
Only time I've 'manually' needed to put it on is first thing in the morning when I'd put the blowers on full bast to clear the screen (which would be doing anyways) therefore the max button knocks them both on for me??? It wouldn't make sense to have to press 2 buttons IMO.

I have left mine on auto, and I haven't noticed it being that good personally.
When i picked the car up, the all the windows including the windscreen were fogging up like a goodun.
I had to use glass cleaning to clean all the windows inside, and it still fogged up (although not as bad).
Only way I can stop it is by putting the aircon profile set to Strong, and switch off auto air re-cycling. If I run the aircon profile in eco or normal things just start fogging up.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Hi Pete - I meant instead of any other control for it. Just a simple on/off button working teh same way the rear screen heaater does. It could be linked to the windscren de-misting option too....

it is linked to the windscreen demisting option (max front screen button - top button on circular controls on LHS of control panel). When this is on the climate screen is on

Half way there then, lol!
