Title: Left VW
Post by: Ninja on 30 December 2013, 00:00
Hi all,

Just a quick post to say I've left VW following a particularly bad experience with customer service. Won't be leaving the forum though. Love dubs still, and my MK2 will always hold a special place In my heart :-(

I won't bore you all with the details of why I left, suffice to say it was bad enough to make me talk with my wallet and leave the brand.

I've gone for something totally different this time and love it - it's 260bhp, jap and pretty rare - can you guess what it is? :-D

Something you will regret as much as a VW in a few months.

Nope - it developed a proper clunk, which VW said is totally normal.

It also engaged drive when in park when I turned the car on - "normal behaviour"

My issue was with the way I was spoken to. I noticed rust on both arches (front) and naturally tried to claim under the 12 year corrosion guarantee. Apparantely the rust is classed as a "mechanical issue" and not covered.

I tried to claim and was told they would give me 50% goodwill contribution, which was bad enough. I questioned why I didn't get the full 100% and was told "it's because we don't class you as a valued customer, sir". I raised a complaint (whilst doing this I was actually negotiating a deal on a MK6 GTD). I mentioned that for the sake of an apology and what amounts to £250 of VW's money (I would have taken 75% as a gesture of good will) they were about to lose a long time customer and a sale of £16,000+

They basically said "sorry you feel that way sir, I hope you enjoy your New car and hope that you'll come back to VW one day". Complaint closed.

There's more to it than that, but that's the general overview.

Nope - it's a nice sensible jap hatch that I've fancied for a while.

A clue - torque steers like a trooper!

Well, I mustn't be a valued customer, the 16,800 I spent on a brand new Polo SEL TSI obviously isn't deemed as value to VW.

Poked up? :-D

It's a Mazdaspeed 3 (it's proper name).

No big plans for it apart from 2nd Decat, tip, map and TMIC.

Interior "quality" is not VW standard, but the fitment and build quality feels top notch. I've a mate with a Speed3 on 75000 miles and it's never skipped a beat.
