Is there any company that does a complete brake upgrade for a mk3 gti? Like a package
I'm thinking a full set like calipers, discs and pads? Maybe even brake lines.
Brembo? Anyone know of something like this?

For the cost not really worth it http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/framefixsbc.asp?page=3&make=VW&model=Golf%20Mk3&ProdGroup=Performance%20Brakes&ProdSubGroup=Brake%20Kits (http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/framefixsbc.asp?page=3&make=VW&model=Golf%20Mk3&ProdGroup=Performance%20Brakes&ProdSubGroup=Brake%20Kits)
Do you have the 288mm brakes. A set of good disc's and good pads should be enough for a mk3. I never got fade with mine.
Failing that you can get porsche brembo calipers and adaptors to fit a mk3 golf.
But just the adaptors will cost £140

I see your having a 1.8t conversion in march? are you going to track the car? as the standard 288 in good order are plenty good enough for the road if not.
-
I may take the car to a track day not decided, it is going to be mapped to around 300bhp once run in.
Having a BAM engine fully rebuilt with forged internals and also a gearbox rebuild and turbo rebuild.
At the moment I'm preparing the car for this kind of power, I have the larger discs which only a couple
Of months old as are the pads but the calipers are knackered.
What do you'd think is the best way to go?
Thank you

Seeing is believing
-
312mm carriers with the current 288mm calipers and decent pads and discs should be more than sufficient tbh.
-
yeh iv got a mk3 with a bam and my calipers were refurbed before i got it so are in good condition and iv got good discs and ferodo ds2500 pads the only thing that i need to do is change the fluid to something like motul rf600 as the fluid thats in there isnt the best especially after the bedding in process :lipsrsealed:  but they are awesome brakes that stick your face to the windscreen if you push too hard

I can do you a V-maxx 4pot kit 330mm kit without hoses for £950 and an extra £50 for hoses if needed (I am an official V-Maxx dealer )
or I can sort you a set for 312mm (with carriers, brembo/mintex/ate branded discs and pads and can sort calipers if needed although 288's are said to work fine) all you need is some washers/spacers
-
I think for now I'll have the callipers refurbed, and get some decent pads and a decent brake fluid see how I go with that
Forever young Ill post some pictures when it's done in March, I'll consider a kit but at the moment it's hard enough saving the last bit I need for the conversion !
A lot has changed on the car recently but haven't taken any pictures to upload on my project thread I try get some snaps on New Year's Eve
Also have some spax collies and staggered Porsche tele dials on the way

If your going for the 1.8t route I would look at running 312mm setup but you will need 16" wheels.

but not bbs 16's as they don't fit with 312mm
-
I believe they do if you run spacers and grind the high points off the calipers.
-
312's arent really needed but if you can get the carriers cheap then it might be worth it, but the biggest difference comes from the pads, think i paid about £150 for my front pads and the difference from oem is absolute night and day
-
I agree. Stick with standard brakes and get uprated pads (front)
-
I must try some uprated front pads on the vr6 when I sort the brakes. It's hard to guess which are best as there's a huge choice between ebc red - ferrodo ds - Pagid rs and brembo hp to name a few, I might even give ate ceramic pads a whirl as the prices are very low.
choices choices :undecided:
-
Ferrodo DS2500, and answer my question about what price you can do full Brembo disc and pad set up

Sorry for missing your pm. I posted a reply on the other thread last night unless you mean an upgrade or 280mm set?
288's mintex or brembo discs and pads (full set up) is £95 delivered

im running 280 grooved black diamond discs and pads all round and they are pretty sharp, well in my 8v hopefully they may do for a while when my hopefull conversion gets done :undecided:
had all underneath welded and hammerited, so next up is convincing the missus to let me do it :lipsrsealed: but she aint that keen, lol, to be fair, do need to buy a house to live in first haha
