Title: A Gti to possibly avoid!
Post by: GTI_for_her! on 28 December 2013, 01:11
I was having a quick look at Gti's for sale when I came across one at Pulman VW.

I thought the reg looked familiar so a quick google of Gti reviews reveals it to be the one that was road tested by Autocar and numerous other journos.
Don't know about anyone else but not one I'd be looking to own as it's no doubt had a hammering since day 1.

I'm sure the garage will be very open with the car's past. 1 previous owner perhaps!!

Would  you expect any other ex demo to have been driven any better?  The  demo gtd I drove in peterborough got an absolute pasting in my possession and had already done 4k of probably the same.:)

Helpful to warn potential buyers though.

Interestingly there is a similar debate doing the rounds on pistonheads about this subject. A 997 GT3 press car has recently went up for sale and there are various arguments for buying it. Mind you it's in a totally different league from a GTI

Is it the red 3-Door - Reg is something like OU13 RVB? I saw it too and remember the EVO Magazine article! It will have had a hard life so far, but I would be pretty sure it's also been maintained regardless of cost.

My sister-in-laws boyfriend bought Caterhams Supersport R press car a few weeks ago (if you Google it it's the yellow 62 reg car that comes up) and it's a peach, been very well looked after!
