Title: starting probs

couple weeks ago the car died and wouldnt start so i had a quick look about and had a listen and it tried to start as in fired then died so listened for fuel pump and nothing popped the relay out and put another in and started up going great till about 10 minutes ago went out to take missus to work and it wouldnt start same problem so i popped the relay out for a few seconds then stuck it back in and bingo it fired up and went fine seeing as the relay is from another car and works fine in that one and the old one works fine in the other car im thinking the fuel pumps giving up is there any way i can check it??

Does the engine still turn over when this problem occurs?  Also does the relay click when the key is turned to the ignition position when the pump should be priming?

Might just have a dodgy connection with one of the wires going to the relay.

yes engine still turns over when it aoccurs and not sure about the relay clicking ill have to listen next time it happens.
