Title: Few questions about changing the foils..
Post by: Nino on 24 December 2013, 19:31
Hey guys,
Im going to wanting to be fitting my new dail at some point soon.
I have purchased the anni foils as I though Meh alot cheaper than buying anni clocks and getting them coded.

Now When it comes to removing the clocks I know its extremely easy to remove them BUT am i going to get any issue by removing them I.E will they loose there coding memory? will I have to get them recoded when i put them back in?

Or isit just a case of disconnecting the batt before removal then putting the bat back on after I reinstall them?

Lastly IS it hard to take the clocks apart to change the foils?

Anything I should know before attempting this mod would be greatly helpful.

Thanks alot guys :)

You dont need disconect the battery. Chris has had my clocks out and just pluged them back in without any problems with it loosing memory or anything

Ok installed these today and followed the guide to taking off the needles etc. Reinstalled them and every Dail works perfectly except the speedo  it's stuck on 40mph. Gunna take the clocks back out tomorrow and hope I can fix it. Otherwise I'm buggered and don't know if or what I'm going to do.  :undecided:

They can stick if you push the needle on too much, they need a tiny bit of space or it will snag on the display

Ok I've taken the clocks back out. Nothing was catching the needle or stopping it from moving. When I touched the needle it moved freely. I have now taken the needle back off and recalibrated it again. I did noticed that the purple clip on the back of the green connector that connects onto the speedo side. Not the one that gives power to the clocks that's the blue one. Anyway the purple clip broke in two half's. On inspection this clips purpose seems to be purely to hold the green connector into the cluster so it does not come out. My first thought here was may because the clip was broken maybe the green connector wasn't making a decent connection so the speedo wasn't working for that reason. But the green connector was not loose at all in the cluster.

OK, fixed the clip, re-alligned the speedo needle. and its no different
I think my speedo is dead.

I am at a loss on what do do now, anyone have any suggestions please?
I used Vagcom to test the cluster, all work how they should except the speedo part.
here is a video...

For the time being I am going to have to use my sat nav or find an app or something so I can see my speed until I can get this fixed.

I am getitng the feeling I am going to have to completely replace the clocks but how am I going to get them coded and the mileage matched up??

I might have to get them off ya, mine are immo 3 so Im guessing I will need immo 3 to replace. what do you mean by "Motometres"??

the manufacturer - Motormeter/Bosch

Motometre is the make of the clocks mate. And yes you cant put immo 2 or 1 in a immo3 ..so you need immo3

Have you tried resetting the needle like one of the lads on ukmivs suggested?
