I have just removed a chip from my car for a tuning chip but when i look the part number up on Google for the original it says its a mega chip the number i have
All these number are on the top of the chipped removed.
Small white sticker - FATA06001953
On the chip
- B9418JH
-NM27C256QE
-200
Is this a standard chip or not.
-
I just googled FATA06001953 and it appears to be a Siemens standard item.
-
when i looked it said mega chip well im glad its standard the ecu had been apart before and resealed and two of the four torques drilled out made me think it might have been changed.
-
What is wrong with the chip you bought off Thai?
-
Are you just trying to find out why the ecu had been opened already mate?
-
Yeh just want to know why it has been opened Thai's chip works better then ever just drove hundred miles on just over 1/4 of a tank amazing mpg know.
-
Ive ordered one of those chips on ebay is the midrange /low end alot better as the pick up is poo on the 16v
-
Low end will allways be poo but defo improved mid and top,abf love to rev, thats where all the fun is!
-
This is where the gearing and lightened flywheel come into play.
-
I cant wait to fit my lightened flywheel next month just not sure about what clutch to use keep hearing you can use VR6 Clutch.
If this is the case must be like having an uprated clutch sort of with the VR6 being quicker and it has more torque.
My chip made such a difference all round didn't make it super fast but the power is smooth and feels a lot nicer to drive.
-
Ahh cool he accepted my offer of 25 quid on ebay so its worth getting
-
yes definitely and so easy to fit within 15 - 20 minutes had ecu out chip fitted and car running again.
-
What tool did u use to take the chip out and is the metal chip cover soldered in like the 8v
-
i used a metal pic and slightly pulled the chip up working my way round that hardest part getting new chip in as the pins sort of face away from the chip so you have to squeeze it so it goes in straight.
But a small flat head should do it just have to be careful and patient.
-
Do you know what the *actual* MPG Increase is? 100 miles is usually around 1/3 of a tank for me...believe its around 30-32mpg average?
-
im not sure obviously every car is different with mileage how you drive ect ect
But there was a definitely a noticeable increase in mpg on my 175k Engine :smug:
-
Sounding promising! Mines on 182k! My driving is pretty mixed, can't afford to floor it all the time!
Was yours from eBay? Theres a few different ones there at the moment...
-
The one he had was from the seller Pepoei...or something like that?

Ah off course, I forgot you had that off me ages ago as well.
-
Thts the seller of ebay buy it now 45 quid he accepted 25 for it so not to expensive for a little mod for the car
-
Blimey he's letting those go flippin cheap now!
-
I wernt expecting him to accept that offer lol i think he does the chips for the diesel aswell may be worth getting that for ur estate thai
-
Already got them fella, just waiting to get the ECU socketed now. Hoping for around 40bhp with the larger injectors ive got coming.

OMG how many times lol. You don't need a Vr6 anything. Standard 16v clutch is all you need.
-
I think I might be requiring a decent VR6 clutch kit for the TDI though seeing as itll soon be pushing more torque than a standard VR below 2000rpm. Cue the broken parts...
-
I think Glens Abf pushes 190 ish bhp and he runs a a standard 16v clutch (apologies if wrong)
-
This is true.
-
I only mention as I remember reading a thread a while ago about vr6 clutches is 16v.
-
Had to drive through a massive puddle more like lake lol i started loose power car started to missfie seems like water had got in the airbox that was a close call could of blown my head up
-
Road water was the reason I moved my cold air intake from the lower grille back up to the stock inner wing location.
-
mine is currently at fog light height but im going to look for a better solution once fog lights are re fitted lower grill/floor not an option with uk weather.
