Guys am looking for Some advice on my Gti
I pick up my Gti on Friday, and noticed when I turn hard lock either way it almost sounds like the hydraulic steering pump is making a hell of a noise!!!
Has anybody else had this and had it fixed? Should I go to my dealer to see if there is a problem??

Whats type of noise are you experiencing? If its creaking you need your shock mounts and associated bearing replaced...

It's more of a scouring noise, almost the pump is struggling..... Am thinking its a trip to the dealer the morn!!

Not many power steering pumps enjoy being held at hard lock. If it sounds horrific then have it checked out, but be realistic with your expectations is all I would suggest. Compare it to another vehicle there.

The golf does not have a powersteering pump. The power steering is electric.
It may be the electric motor on the rack that is not happy.

+1. Don't forget that the steering rack has variable teething. That means that in the full lock the electric motor mechanism struggles because the steering becomes "heavy". Worth a check though...

For some reason today the noise has gone away
But will just check next week with the dealer to be on th afe side!!!
But on a lighter note......Merry Xmas guys and hope Santa is good to one and all
