Title: Intermittent low power and spluttering
Post by: shaunmorton on 22 December 2013, 22:36
Hi Guys!

I have a mk4 1.8t AUM with 48000 on the clock. i have had the car since April with no issues at all so far!

But... in November i had a 2 1/4 inch cat back exhaust fitted (with no other modifications on the car at all)
in the last couple of weeks i have started to notice the slight odd thing happening with it.

Somtimes on choke it missfires for short bursts of 2-3 seconds sounding like its not firing on every other cylinder

and sometimes it feels like it is really underpowered going through the gears, when its feeling underpowered is the only time i get massive pops from the exhaust when anything changes with the revvs.

Sorry if this is vague but i have no VAGCOM or anything of the sort.

Anyone have any ideas??

It's extremely hard to give you advice on that information.

However as you have an AUM, first thing you need to do is give your local VW dealer a ring and enquire if you have has been in for a recall yet?

All AUM's got recalled for faulty Coil packs if yours has not yet been done, its free and could well be the cause pal :)

Also have you had your timeing belt and water pump done yet?

Coil packs have been done so it looks like I need someone with some kit to scan it! Going to check the maf as well unplugging it ect.
