Title: Golf mk2 small bumper trim
Post by: rich1977 on 22 December 2013, 20:29
Right then seeing as my gti is originally a small bumper and has been poorly converted to big bumper, I'm looking at taking her back to big bumper.

1st question is has anyone bought the bumpers from vw heritage and are they close to original vw bumpers or a poor copy?

2. Vw heritage list 3 options of arch trim 90 spec, 88-92 and a cheap option of one that's 84-86 now I'm after one that doesn't require a sill cover so which option do I need, I'm going to use the cl front splitter.

3. The door trims on my no spec kit have been tiger sealed on anyone got any tips on how to remove them without killing the paint has hopping to just run arch spats with no door trims and no sill covers

Question 2.... 90 spec will be big bumper. If you have the large single door window you'll need 88-92 or if you have the two piece side window you need 83-86.
When you remove the side trim you'll be left with holes so I would have though you'd have some painting to do anyway

Mine appear to just be tiger sealed on as originally would have had the thicker early spec trims

it wont look right with the arches and no side strips unless you trim a bit of the arch. you could take the full kit from a golf driver which is the same as an 87ish gti only with a smaller front splitter.
