Since I got my GTD on 1st October and 2000 miles later my average MPG on the MFD shows since start is 29MPG
This does include a few motorway journeys where my foot was fully down
What's everyone else showing?
-
26 :embarrassed:
-
Realising after posting this I am assuming from start means from Zero and not from when you last switched on the engine
-
From start is the beginning of your journey, long term is from day one.
-
Confusing thread this, we already have an MPG thread and how can you have an average since start? Surely the average since start is the long term? Unless you reset your long term all the time?
Sorry to be pedantic, I want to be accurate with my answers

I'm not far off that in 2.5 years and 40k miles in my 911 (26mpg) and that includes some >150mph cruising on Autobahn and plenty in the Alps, Dolomites etc.
In the 700 miles I've had my GTD 44.9 including the mileage the delivery driver did...
-
Long-term mpg for my GTD is 44.5mpg. Currently I'm at 2900 miles. I don't hang around now as driving it mean and getting to optimum operating temp quicker is no thirstier than driving like a nun on my daily commute.
-
Long term with around 1200 miles since mid-November has just hit 50mpg.

In your average MPG menu there is a "since start" option as well as "long term", like i said in my last post, the since start one gives you your average for your current journey which resets itself after something like 4hrs.
-
Not to mention the "since refuel" figures.

Yeah I know that
So is the question on this thread "What's the highest since start figure you've ever seen"?
-
When I asked this question I saw the 'from start' and assumed that meant from 'zero' on the clock, I never saw a long term, so my question meant what is the average MPG displayed since Zero (or 'long term')

Makes sense then! My long term is 32.5 with about 950 on the clock

This is your long term average?. How many miles have you done? I just don't see how people can be achieving these figures in a GTI. Driving in economy mode and with a very light foot the best I've seen is 36mpg.
-
3300 miles in. Mainly up and down the M3. Some days I'm averaging 45/46 on a run.
-
2000 miles in, 43 long-term. Got up to the heady heights of 49 the other day, although generally 46 on a run. Can get down to 34 driving round town though.

If you're getting 40's as an average long term figure and this isn't meant to offend anyone but you really shouldn't have bought a GTI and should have considered something like a blue motion Golf diesel. As you are probably using 10% of the car's power and it would indicate that you drive quite steadily and economically.
I agree Craig my average long term is 27.6 that's in the DSG and that's driving what I would consider to be normal.

Given My daily commute is 120 mile round trip with an average motorway speed of around 50 due to slow traffic it's just what I get. I'm happy with what I get. It also means that I have fun when not doing the daily drive to work. And with no disrespect to anyone. I hate driving diesels.
-
If your overall average is over 35 mpg since day one, then you're not driving your GTI properly!

I only read briefly some time ago comments in the other 'MPG' forum post (which I can't find now) such as about needing to get to 20K miles on the clock to see the benefits of a GTD but seems to me GTI owners are getting better if not the same from delivery - makes no sense to me.
I'm no expert but in any new/used car, diesel should be better than petrol economically if driving the same style...
I still love this car, but would I have been happier with the GTI

Flinty, of course people can drive whatever car they want but I just don't want people to get this false impression that the average GTI owner is getting 40MPG all the time because this couldn't be further from the truth. On the odd occasion perhaps, driving at a constant speed on the motorway as you say.
I can safely say that driving normally, in the city the average will read somewhere near 30MPG. Any enthusiastic prodding of the throttle will quickly show you below that 30MPG mark, driving like miss daisy will see you just over that mark. I once managed 41 MPG but that was all the way on a motorway and this is where the GTI's economy excels.
Adekil, the grass is always greener on the other side. I can assure you that the GTD will always achieve higher MPG than a GTI if driven the same way. The GTI is a thirsty animal when driven enthusiastically.

I find motorway not to be that good but A/B roads on a run are better.
Just to clarify, this is the actual long term read out not your best short term. My best short term is 43 MPG but my long term (from 0 miles) is quite different

I have a question, does anybodies long-term mpg counter reset every so often? Is there a limit which it reaches and then resets?

Quote from handbook
'' It resets after a total of individual journeys up to a total of 19 hours and 59 minutes or 99 hours and 59 minutes journey timer or 1,999.9 km or 9,999.9 km distance travelled. If one of these limits is exceeded, the memory is automatically deleted and reset to 0.''

Hi,
thank you for the information, just what I was looking for :)
-
Long term currently for my GTD at 22,000 miles is 47.6 - not bad as I don't hang around chaps
-
51.6mpg Long term (about 1,500 miles).
-
36.9 GTI 1800 miles on the clock
-
I did 32k in my GTI before switching out. My average was 34mpg long term. My 1100 miles in my R is 28mpg
-
34.2 after 23k. I'm quite happy with that.
GTI
-
Nearly 55mpg over 67k miles
-
GTI 36.5 mpg 16k miles.
-
The most deserving prize should be for who has the lowest average mpg for a GTD, i'm sure there are a few here under 40mpg. I'm nowhere near at around 44mpg average for around 18k miles.

Good for you, drive the GTI not a dullard Blue motion. Might as well do the commute in something you like.

Yep the rpm will be a little lower, assuming 60 for A/B road and 70+ on motorway.
-
My best short term is 50!!! nottingham to leeds along the m1 with two sets of 50 restrictions. ACC and eco mode for that as it was a average speed check one.
Outside of that i was just doing 70-75 using own throttle
