Title: GTD - DAB Radio Question
Post by: adekil on 16 December 2013, 17:07
Hi all,

In the Radio configuration there's an option to tick (which I have) to switch to FM if DAB is not available.

When the DAB signal is lost I get the icon appear on the DAB station (mute sign) but takes ages to switch to FM and sometimes does not switch at all.

Anyone else experience this or is it just normal behaviour?

adekil - my radio config is the same and when I lose DAB it too seems to take ages to switch to FM and when it does the FM reception is not that good.  Before with my Mk6 and no DAB i could keep Capital FM for all of my journey to / from work except when in town as its in a dip.  Now with DAB I lose it at intermittent points and there is no quick switch to FM - annoying!

As I understand it, the system has a timeout so that it isn't constantly flipping between DAB and FM...

I reckon it would be more annoying if it was constantly flipping between DAB and FM for intermittent signal loss...

There is a quick way to switch to FM if it is taking too long... extend a digit and press the appropriate buttons on the radio...

Its a really long delay until it does switch! Having an option to lower the timeout would suffice if you wasn't one of those people who get annoyed so easily

I wouldn't say selecting the FM on the touch screen is every day easy if you are sat further back in your seat or on bumpy roads due to being on the far left of the screen and such a small icon to press.

I guess then this is by design and the alternative is best suited for short people with a steady left hand
