I'll just screen shot this for when the for sale advert appears
-
I'm presuming you were pissed at the time of writing that?
Well done on reaching 135mph and thrashing the fcuk out of your car. I don't even know you but I'm so proud of your achievements you're now my role model.
Your chufties badge is in the post

There is a word for people like this, I use it on a regular basis because there are so many of them around. What was it again...?

I don't know why you take the piss out of this guy. after all. everyone seems to be on about engine conversions to make their cars faster? why should he be any different to the rest of us?
-
you know what they say about a pack of dogs? once 1 attacks the rest of them follow having no idea what they are doing.
-
We're all young once and driving fast seems like a good idea at the time. But as a grown up you realise it's irresponsible.
But, I'm sure he was only doing that speed on private land or a racetrack ;)
Driving that fast is one thing, but publicising it, isn't that clever and certainly if you want to sell the car on at some point, saying that you don't look after it isn't bright either.
-
But only seems to be on this site.
On the m3 forum everyone talks about top speed and I was given advise by many, that to beat the 155mph limit you must pass 155mph in 5th then change into 6th to get top speed.
Lets face it if you buy a 1.8 turbo or any fast hatch and fast coupe etc, everyone buys them for the same reason, to have fast spirited drives.
Legally we can only drive to 70mph so why buy a gti if you dont plan on braking that law?

Why have a GTI?
Because it's fun to drive. A GTI isn't the fastest car around (you can find faster like the M3), but you can have fun. One of the GTI's strong points has always been how it handles corners (except the Mk3, that wallows  ). Some of the most fun I've had driving has been on A and B roads between 40 and 60mph.

My gti goes ,stops and goes round corners but I cant go into detail ,no wallowing though

Of course, if you modify a car you can make it handle better than the standard car.
Without wanting to start anything, my old Mk2 16v in standard form handled better than my old Mk3 16v in standard form.
But that's not the point.
The point was merely that advertising the fact that you have blatently broken the law (not just 10mph over, but nearly twice the 70mph limit) is not a smart thing to do on a public forum.
It is pleasing when you get through another year without anything major going wrong with your car.

I agree, like I said the guy is a numb nut

He has not mentioned where he has achieved this speed i think some people are jumping to conclusions also every one on here spends money on making there car faster and no way can you say you have not driven above 70mph on the road so you would be breaking the law as much as him in that case.
I have driven over 70 and who doesn't on the motorway, on a normal road this is a stupid speed but i've seen cars fly by me at that speed on the motorway and its not an out of the ordinary thing these days.
Just my opinion

True. I should have added track/private road use as a reason for being able to achieve that top speed legally.

Fair enough.
But there's a difference between driving 10-20mph above the limit and going nearly double the limit. The first will get you 3-6 points, the latter will likely get you banned from driving. But of course, that's only if you get caught or have an accident.

So this thread is what happens when people start banging their willy on the keyboard...

Just a stupid boy racer thread is all. 135mph is automatic ban. Anything over 100 is. Sure we have all pushed our motors but the way the post was phrased is 'Gary boy racer' Most of the knobs down my end.
