What size is the cat that won't fit? I'm sure a reducer would solve the problem and be much cheaper.

The exhaust diameter is too big to the cat you provided. There is nearly 15 mm of a difference between the cat pipe and the rest of the exhaust. Can you source a reduction step from 55 to 68 mm?

My Milltek came with a reducer to go from 2.5" to 2.25" allowing it to be joined to the standard cat. I'm running a 3" downpipe and decat and got a 3" to 2.5" reducer made up from a custom exhaust place and it cost me £10
