Hi
I am new in this forum and i come from Slovenia - Ljubljana.
I have one question and that is can somebody please tell me if i run navigation on Discover Pro with Google Earth (Car Net) how many mobile data (mega or giga) i spend if navigation runs for an hour?
Many thanks for the answers

Do UK GTD/GTIs have access to Google Earth and car net?
My A1 has Google Earth / Maps and I roughly use 700Mb in a month and I have my Sat Nav on all the time. I do about 1000 miles a month.

Well i dont know that but since i think from june this year is possible to order Car Net (Google Earth) here in Slovenia and also UV isolated and heated front glass.

UK won't be getting car net apparently from VW. why Audi provide it and vw don't is beyond me. do you need advanced telephone prep for it to work as well as the sim card slot? according to the manual you can use your phone as a WiFi hotspot but I can't find anything anywhere on the nav pro options. maybe a vcds tweak?

You need premium bluetooth. This is more expensive than advanced bluetooth and not an option in the uk

Exactly so. Car net works only with bluetooth premium and if you make calls over the phone your phone must support rSAP profile for calls.Easier is if you have second SIM card in the car.
At first Car Net was also not possible to order in Slovenia but my good friend from VW Team Slovenia (D thanks again )managed at VW dealer that the dealer put information for Car Net further to the management and maybe month later Car Net was ready to order.
So sometimes must somebody push things forward to move something but on right place.

so does this mean if I change the Bluetooth module under the seat to the premium module I'll be able to use car net services and WiFi hotspot?
-
It isn't under the seat in the MK7 as far as I know. It's integrated into the headunit or possibly in the glovebox with the CD / SD card unit.

Ya it's integrated into the radio control unit in the glove box so not an easy or cheap retrofit.

Under the driver seat is one and only box Dynaudio box if you have Dynaudio.I am not sure if Car net is integrated into Discover Pro unit or into the glove box but if you want to change regular Bluetooth to Premium Bluetooth it wont be cheap.I think you must also change installation (wires) to the outside antenna and that means you must set your car apart and after that your car it wont be the same as before.

It is unbelievable that the UK is about the only market in Europe that doesn't get car-net, premium phone and a whole host of other options. Particularly when the GTD/GTI were being advertised in May on vw.com as the first cars to offer car-net in the UK. The RSAP connection in my Scirocco rarely dropped below full signal, the advanced phone prep in my Golf rarely gets to 3 bars and so far has never reached full signal.

Well folks put some presure on your VW dealers and tell them that UK also wants some "candys" from VW for your Golf VII! Everything is possible.

question that needs asking is why can Audi do it but vw can't. also why does the manual say you can use a mobile as a WiFi hotspot but no options are available on the head unit. pi44 poor considering the car costs upwards of 27/28k

It's all marketing, just like why we can't spec alcantara seats
-
well the head of UK marketing needs taking in a field and dragging round by his arms by a v10 toureg - 4uckwit!

 lol possibly..... or the R50....

don't know why they can't just leave all options available to order and let the customer choose what they want.

Considering Audi and VW share a lot of components it would be really easy for them.
I must admit its actually a decent feature and the wifi in the car is excellent for the kids.
