hi my mate has bought a cheap golf v6 4mo that has a few issues, first the car idles quite low around 600-650 rpm,we have unplugged the maf and there is no difference so kind of think this is ok,we then unplugged something that is just before the inlet manifold that is also connected to the airbox pipe just after the maf it's silver I think it is called the icv but not sure when we did this the car idled at 1000 rpm and sounded like it was running good but it brought a light on the dash and it wouldn't rev past 1000 rpm,on cold days it misfires when cold, also the fans are not working I don't think we have put the climate control on and the fans don't run at all and when the car is showing 90 degrees they still don't come but it does not overheat even on a long drive it's mad this is why it was so cheap could anyone give me some info on this what the problems could be,I'm buying scanner in a few days just thought I would ask you good people on here first before my mate looses interest in it

i always thought if the maf was unplugged and no change, then i was goosed. may be wrong though. best thing would be reconnect everything then get it scanned. at least that way itll narrow your search (hopefully) and remove some guess work
