hi I just bought a 51 plate golf gti off a friend of mine. It has a couple of problems one being when I take the key out of the ignition there is still a live feed i.e fans can stay on or indicators etc. He said he has been told its a faulty relay. I haven't had chance to look proper yet as I work away a lot. The second is there is a knocking when I steer ive been told its the anti roll bar which has an aluminium washer that gets seized and just needs cleaning off and greasing up. Thanks in advance for any replys

The fans has in the front fan near the radiator in the engine bay? that can stay on to cool engine even if the engine is switched off. The knocking could be the ARB, ball joint or the CV joint.

no the electrics inside like heaters, indicators, washers etc will run the battery down if anything is left switched on

Sound like its your ignition relay sticking or the ignition switch itself. This is what I'd do, Remove the panel under your steering wheel to gain access to your relay panel. With your ignition off (but the fault is keeping it on) remove relay 100, put it back in, when replacing it listen/feel for the relay closing, if it clicks and your ignition comes on again it'll prob be a faulty ignition switch, if it doesn't click and the ingition comes back on, it's the relay sticking closed. Hopefully this helps you find the problem!
