Changed my pads a little while ago,back ones down to nothing and front still like new?
Any ideas? :smiley:

Maybe the rears were much older or you like driving around with the handbrake on slightly?

mk3 rear calipers are known for Sticking (handbrake mech usually), I would lift the back up and see if they drag
you can try and free the handbrake mech if sticky but there seems to be mixed success! Some people say mk4 calipers are better but t.b.h even they stick (b.t.w I can get rear calipers :wink:)

Also the pads where all done at same time,just seams odd back have gone to nothing and front are like new!

Because your handbrake mech on caliper is sticking, so even when you put handbrake down and drive its actually still on resulting in fast wearing rear pads.

I can do new rears (later spec 95+ type) for £67 a side or if you want mk4 type's (although you will need goodridge hoses (that I also sell!) they are £84 a side.
These are new German made callipers plus I don't need your old units for exchange also they have a 2 year warranty!
and both prices include postage to your door :smiley:

MK4 ones to stick though, had a MK4 fail MOT on brake balance this week, both calipers sticky, OS really bad. Quick strip down and clean up, new seals from TPS and job jobbed, handbrake perfect.

I have this issue at the moment, seized mk3 calipers on my mk3 16v GTI -
I had bought new handbrake cables to fit this weekend, then realised it was the calipers, so decided to fix the issue completely; these are a cracking price on ebay:
Golf mk4 TRW calipers (oem) brand new and NO surcharge, £84 for a pair!!

With these you will need a pair of conversion brake pipes since the mk4 golf uses a banjo fitting instead of screw, after alot of searching on the internet, I found these to be the best price, again on ebay, HEL braided mk3-mk4 conversion brake hoses - £35 posted, including all the fittings you need;

That's £120 for everything you need to fit the slightly better mk4 items (which are brand new and should give you a good few years of trouble free motoring) Quite a bit cheaper than what the chap above was offering to you, I'm glad to say :smiley:

(them caliper prices are half what everyone seems to be selling at and are way way below trade! I might even buy some at them prices!)

Received the new units today - in brand new TRW boxes, with 3 year or 100,000km warranty stickers on them - if it means anything.
Opening the box, inside are what look like brand new Lucas items - All the fittings look brand new, freshly machined etc. I guess they could be refurbed, but they are advertised as new and certainly look it.
Won't get to fit them this weekend as the brake hoses haven't arrived in time :cry:
I say go for it, bargain price! Although the seller doesn't have many left..
