Title: FAO those who have fitted FMIC
Post by: mar_k on 04 December 2013, 19:50
I'm working on a Welly cooler install on a friends mk4 1.8t but I need some help from those who have fitted one.

What happens to DV hose and N75 hose that's removed from the metal charge pipe?

How do you plump them into the new pipe work? Is the a special pipe we need to get?

I've not done one on a k03 based car. Don't have the same problem on k04 cars as we retain the metal charge pipe.

Any help is appreciated.

Just re-read the fmic thread and it seems this has been asked a few times but there is no answer?

You need to re-establish a place for them to go. Cold side relocation is often done with the DV which just leaves a take off to add in a similar place for the N75

You kind of need some special kind of pipe I just got mine from some that was breaking there golf I popped up to get a few bits and saw the pipe and asked if it was for sale to which he replied no its going with the Fmic as a full sale but then I showed him £30 and he Couldn't say no :)

If you know someone who can TIG, you can easily get the nipples welded on.  My welder used the old part of a VW fuel filter for my N75 take off

My charge pipe has a nipple welded for the n75 and I resorted to plumb my diverter valve just before the throttle body

Np mark.
I'm in talks with a local place that I might be able to get some made up for people. If the price is right.

if your having a pipe made why not just have it made so there is no joins in it

Will have to see. The guy said he will fit my Fmi. And do all piping for £220

Ive decided after speaking with prospeed that rather than use the pipe I have I dont want any joins so for £220 prospeed will fit my FMIC, trim my bumper and fabricate my piping so there will be in total only 4 joins.

1: Coming off the turbo.
2: Attaching to the pipe off the TB.
3: Cold side of intercooler.
4: Hot side of intercooler.

So if anyone is interested, that pipe I have is now for sale :)
