Title: Safe wheel cleaner.
Post by: Black oil on 04 December 2013, 18:26
What wheel cleaners can you use safely?
On my mk4 v5 alloys the plastic centre hub covers were milky and I can only assume it was from a corrosive cleaning agent that was too strong or left on too long.
Are most latest products ok to use and do you have any recommendations please?

PH neutral products and do one wheel at a time, in other words don't let the product dry on.

Valet Pro Bilberry or Carpro Iron x, I use both on a daily basis with no issues

Thanks all.
Was looking at the Iron x in a few vids and it looked a bit strong however it says it is PH balanced so will give it a whirl.

Looks strong but is safe. I use Auto Finesse Iron Out probably once a month and that does the trick.

Another vote for Iron-X. Excellent stuff.

I'd go for Bilt Hamber Auto wheel as it clings to the wheel and removes dirt and fallout.

Best thing would be to seal the wheels then all you need is you normal mix of car shampoo and that will do the job.
