Title: Yet another problem
Post by: greg1953 on 04 December 2013, 16:56
As per the title....when standing at tickover my 2005 GTTDi appears to be misfiring, it's perfectly smooth when being driven but pull up to traffic lights and you can feel it, just like a miss-fire on a petrol car.
Any ideas anyone ??

Tried some Red-X through the fuel system and changed the fuel filter lately? Also, have you a way of getting the fault codes read, to see if it's throwing something up?

Nothing on the VagCom, I've got the free version, not the dealer one and the fuel filter is about due to be done.

I'd get that filter changed and some Red-X to clean out the lines/injectors and see if that solves it. Other than that I have no idea what would cause a diesel to run poorly at idle.

Does engine temperature affect it at all?

No, it's the same whatever the engine temp is, I'll try a new diesel filter, thanks for the help.

No worries. I'm nothing more than an home mechanic, so I'd be appreciative to know if a filter and injection cleaner clears up the problem.

Could try the following

Clean out the EGR Valve
Replace the injector loom

First one is easy enough to do yourself
