Title: Temp sender

I have got to replace the thermostat and temp sensor on my golf 1.8t. I know there are 2 temperature sensors, which one is it I wud need to replace along with the thermostat?? And where would be the best place to get these from as vw prices are normally extortionate. Appreciate any help

which engine (code)??

the engine does have two senders, but they are normally in one housing - i.e. one part.

can check vw repair guide when i know which engine it is...

It AUM engine. I think I got told one is on the right hand side and one on the left or something but I could be wrong. I'm gettin fault code p1296 and it seems to be using a lot of fuel so Going to try the temp sensor and thermostat because apparently it's common for these to go after a while. Thanks

Thanks for that Barrym don't look to complicated. Just to confirm it is the green sensor I need to replace yes?? Because vw have now put their prices up and for the thermostat and temp sensor it is 70quid! But euro car parts do the green sensors for about 17quid, so just making sure it is the green one I need?

yes mate the green 1 you need try tps or bite the bullet an get from the dealer a few members from here will agree when i say eurocrapparts stuff is hopeless  :wink:

There is a guy on ebay who sells the sensors for under £20 on ebay. I got one and have no issues.

You can pick a thermostat for about a tenner too online.
