Title: US markers mod
Post by: navmk4gti on 03 December 2013, 15:43
I am choping up a spare rubstrip and fitting smoked US side markers.

As you can see pics theres small gaps here and there.. i will be sanding it down to get it smooth too.. what do you guys use to fill in the gaps is it just mater using black silicone and then sanding back??

Plastic weld around the light??

Iv heard people doing plastic weld for number plate recess but thought no point around the light as nothing to weld together .. only about 1-2mm gap around some parts the light.

iv never messed with filler before..will any filler do

ah sorry, misunderstood what you were saying.

personally id still be tempted to plastic weld excess plastic on the edgeand sand it back. plastic weld is gonna be way stronger than filler which may fall out. but im no body shop pro so could be other ways to do it that are better, just my 2p

Hmm yh i could maybe make soms plastic strips out of the chunck that iv cut out. Was hoping just black silicone and sand back haha but have no idea how strong that silicone stuff is

As for filler, I've just done my rub strip and I used bumpersoft plastic bumper filler, it was perfect for the job :afro:
