running 20's and lowering it? Man your roads must be smooth where you live. What offset are the wheels as you may need to run 205/35/20 to get under the arches

I wouldn't want your tyre bill.......

You do realise those wheels will completely ruin the ride and handling characteristics of the car, don't you?

on my mk4 it drove just as good on 20s than the standard 16s

The MK4 wasn't exactly renowned for it's sharp handling

What width of wheel is it though? The width and offset will have more of an effect than the actual diameter of the wheel on whether it will fit under the arches at the front.
I ran 8J X 19" ET44 BBS CK's with 235 35 19 tyres with no issues at all BUT mine wasn't lowered.

From the OP's other post "hi i wont to lower my car so arches are at top of wheel"...so it appears it's going to be 'humped'.
It'll drive really well :lipsrsealed:

Each to their own, but you must be seriously compromising the ride and handling for the sake of 'aesthetics' (and in the context of this thread, I use that word loosely)

Sorry, but you can go too far with wheel diameters; I know it's partly a question of taste, but 20" is too big for a Golf and they will make it look silly imo.
If you must go ahead with ruining your cars look and handling don't forget to tell your insurance company.
