Title: Quick review and a question?
Post by: Ginge 35Edition on 01 December 2013, 18:31
So, my bro has now ordered his GTi and he picked me up earlier for a quick blast in a demo car he had borrowed for the day.

My overall opinion is that it is a great car and it made me miss my 35 terribly. It felt slightly less powerful and it had the PP. The wheel hop was a lot more noticeable in the lower gears. The interior is a nice change and felt more modern than the mk6. Overall a lovely car and I'm looking forward to us taking round Oulton Park next spring.

One question, he is having the 19"'s and is thinking about having then repainted straight away to get rid of the gloss black. His suggestion is to keep the polished face but have the black repainted in the traditional silver finish, personally I'd have the whole wheel repainted but his idea does sound interesting.

Has anyone done this?

Cheers

Neil

I don't think it would look good at all but what's bothering me is why you'd spend nearly a grand on a set of optional extra alloys then paint them because you don't like them?
You could buy a set of silver BBSs for that sort of money that would look better and could be sold on again after the car goes thus recouping a load of money.

Silver paint shadowing polished surface, don't think it'll look good. You either want a strong contrast with the polished surface, or all polished.

Yeah ya both right. I've tried to push him down the BBS route.
