Hi
Some tosser has popped the rear door glass on my MK2 5 door golf.
I have the replacement glass and stripped down the door in readiness to fit the new glass.
Winder mechanism removed and any other fittings that get in the way.
Totally stumped how you get the glass into the door to refit the winder.
Any ideas how to get the new glass in. Is it from the inside or outside?
Cheers
Paul

You taken all the trim off on the door like the rubber and tge plastic it sits on?

Thanks for the reply Weazgti
Do I take it that you remove all the rubber and trim from the surround.
Remove the rear quarter light and rubber trim
Drop the glass into the door
Refit all the trim and rear quarter light
Slide the glass up and into the runners/rubbers
Re-fit the winder mechanism
Is this the method that you would advise?

slide the glass in the door no need to remove the trim you will need to put it in on the cock then it will just slide down

You won't get glass in with the trim on. The plate on the glass won't go through.

Sorted now
For future reference
Remove the external and internal window sill trim
Remove the window rubber
Remove the transom bar and also remove the rubber channel from the transom bar
Lower the replacement glass, the fixing can also remain on the glass to do this.
Lower the glass so it sit right down in the door
Re-fit the transom bar, without the rubber channel
Now fit the window to the winder mechanism
Apply a little WD40 to the transom channel and slide the rubber channel into place
Refit the window rubber
Refit the exterior and interior sill trim
Re-assemble the door card, handle and winder mechanism.
