Title: How reliable is the car tracker?

Hi guys, new to forum.

I placed an order for a GTI 2 weeks ago today. I got the order number yesterday from my dealer and when I checked it said 'With the factory'.

Checked the tracker this minute and is now displaying 'build in progress'.

Has this happened to anyone else ie I never had a estimated BW or a confirmed BW. In 24 hours the car is now being built.

Dont get me wrong I have a massive grin on my face as I was told March now it looks like end Dec/start of Jan.

So I can i pretty much base that the tracker is accurate?

In my experience the tracker has been pretty accurate.

If you have any doubts - and I understand why you would - phone either your dealer or VW they seem to have a different/more detailed tracker... they should be able to confirm...

WOW! :o  Thats got to be a new record? Fingers crossed for ya mate, in my experience it's fairly accurate.

beats mine which is 4 weeks from order to build date!


it was going to kill me having to wait 5 months!! I feel sorry for anybody that had the ultra long waits it must have been torture

You still hold that record Gingernick, just rang the dealer and they have BW2 on their system.

All excited there for a moment!

Still, a month sooner than predicted...fingers crossed

I ordered my GTD nearly 8 weeks ago and I still don't have a build date.  :angry:

I am paranoid now and keep having to check the tracker!

I ordered on 10/10 and am still awaiting a build date for my GTD.  Looks like the GTi's are being built much quicker.

Haven't checked the order tracker since the start of this week when it was still at Stage 2: Order with Factory. Checked this morning and it's now showing; Step 4 of 7: Build in progress!
Maybe they're just getting ready for the start of next year.

Mine has shifted to "Build In Progress" too  :undecided:
Emailed my dealer as I was expecting Late April early May delivery. He seems to think there may be a problem with the tracker as his system still shows my car unconfirmed BW3 which has shifted from what he told me last week when it was BW9 and that is still a lot earlier than originally quoted. Not surprised as this happened with my current Scirocco as that was ordered May and scheduled for Sept build and it turned up in July.
Either way Fritz and his pals are outta there for a couple of weeks now enjoying their Christmas break

Think the tracker is on the fritz, an lot of people have gone to build in progress this week and last week myself included and i was BW 5.

I'm currently at build in progress and my dealer has confirmed this is an error and my actual build week is 4.

My tracker has just changed to arrived at dealer despite their delivery being on Tuesdays :s

Just checked and it says in transit. My dealer told me 2 weeks ago my build week was confirmed as 2 which is werid.

I was wrong!  The tracker changed to arrived at dealers, and indeed it has  :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin:

Rang the dealer yesterday and from what they can see on their system they think that my order was shifted to a similar spec car that was cancelled.

The car has left the factory and is at the docks. Still hanging on till March 1st though!  :grin:
