So my pride and joy has gone, time for a new project!
Firstly, music's pretty important to me. I've looked about a bit, and I can see there's a lot to it to upgrade the stereo.
Am I right by thinking the rns310 is a straight fit? I'm looking to upgrade the armrest to the Media port too so I'm pretty sure this stereo is adequate.
Any help would be great, thanks.

http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?board=14.0 - The dedicated car audio section, may hold better answers. Also, try the search feature as you may pull up some decent info.
As far as I can tell, any stock Volkswagen stereo will fit into the dash, but whether the feature will work without the use of VAGCOM or something, I can't say. Have you considered the Kenwood option available through the main dealer? I will try and dig up the model number, but it looks a far better option than a stock VW unit, especially if music is important to you.

Most double din will fit but may need a differing surround. The issue to look at is the aerial connection. Most have single but some have twin fakra which needs an extra adapter purchasing. Firmware updates on the satnav units is worth checking.
The standard h/u is crap, the model up is crap, and remember that you will need a h/u with 50w rms to sound good. The speakers are up to it and unless you are amping the lot don't buy components as it won't be noticeable.

Yeah, I'm pretty clued up on all of that you mentioned. I just wondered if that mentioned stereo, would work.
Bought an Appradio 2 in the end, really happy with it too!
