Title: golf mk4 clocks
Post by: navmk4gti on 24 November 2013, 20:53
Very quick question. I am able to pick up golf mk4 clocks part number 1J0920926 A. Are these clocks imo 3 so can i get miles to empty and lit needles on them..they are half fis.

They look bog standard clocks so will throw bora foils in if they are all good and immo 3

Make sure they are VDO and not Motometer otherwise you'll be doing nothing with them lol

They are bosch rb8 i believe  :undecided:

Says this on the helpful link dom posted:

Can Miles to empty be enabled on my cluster?
Yes it can if you have an immobiliser 3 cluster made by VDO or the RB8 cluster by Bosch with half or full FIS dislpay,

So i presumed bosch will be fine. Main reason i got them too is because i cannot get bora overlays for the clocks i have currently in my 4mo the symbols dont match up. But they match up for the bosch ones

They are a bit of a PITA to enable on an RB8 cluster...

Keep looking for a set of VDO clocks, they do come up from time to time. I paid £19 delivered for mine

A quick q dont want to start a new thread

If the clocks in my car have speedometre up to 160mph do the replacement clocks also have to be to 160.  I have a chance to get vdo immo3 clocks but they are up to 140mph. Not like my car would ever get there :lipsrsealed:

hmmm not sure on that one mate, I'm guessing there must be some kind of multiplier to convert the signal from the gearbox to MPH so that might need changing...

Best way is put them in and check it's all working ok with GPS first lol

I havent got them yet. Dont want to until im 100% sure on the mph issue. What you said would make sense tho. Think ill just keep searchin for 160mph set..aint messing with gearbox sensor over clocks
