Title: Trying to find oil leak
Post by: lamplighter on 23 November 2013, 21:25
Hello  if anyone has any ideas on this please share

My Aum has an oil leak from behind the exhaust manifold well i say from behind the exhaust manifold im seeing a lot of fresh oil on some of the pipes at the back of the engine and the engine also smells

I have just changed the charge pipe top middle and bottom and new t clamps as that was leaking but that's in a different place anyway had a look round the back but just cant identify where its coming from  oil levels have gone down a bit but im due for a service now anyway so its about right .

could it be the banjo seals that have finally given up ???

Have you considerd the rocker cover gasket? Mine was leaking from there for a while, garage changed it but the gasket split within a week. Got another one sorted free of charge. If your turbo pipes, and the whole back of the engine is oily, it's likely to be that.

was thinking something like one of the gaskets going at the back of the engine

Hi all the rocker gasket had been changed a few months ago and all dry ,  but i have now since changed the charge pipe to an agu version due to the stupid clip system that was given to this car and now the car is running great .

when i put my hand round the back of the engine before the turbo the pipes there are wet with oil its fresh so its coming from something round there will have a look on ekta to see if i can spot some pipes in the diagram in the same location at to where im feeling oil .

Is there oil on top of the gearbox?
Could be the VVT gasket.
