Title: Thinking of returning to a mk4
Post by: mar_k on 23 November 2013, 13:19
Well I've had my Cupra R for almost a year now but I am getting bored of looking at it.
The body work isn't the best, It's ok but needs some work so I think I will search for a straight Mk4.

I prefere the look of the Mk4 golf if I'm honest.

If I decide to return to a Golf it will definitely be going K04 pretty much straight away.
I will most likely break the LCR for parts and keep all the goodies for the Golf.
Strangely there is more room in the rear of the Golf for passengers than the LCR. Maybe just a result of the Recaro rear seats though.

Yeah, That's the idea Barry.

Ideally a bog standard 1.8t. Loads to pick from.
I would just remove the whole front end with subframe, engine suspension the whole lot
and refit the whole lot from the LCR with AMk, gearbox brakes and so on.

I went from a 4mo to a lcr them back to a mk4 but tdi this time,  the lcr ban 225 in a mk4 4motion is the perfect combination the grip of the haldex system is so much better than fwd.

Bill is my choice for mapping, He has done wonders on my LCR,

Really happy with the level of service he gives and very honest about things.

Wouldn't go anywhere else now.

Cheers Barry, that would have been great.

I'm going to view 2 4motions today, One has over heating issues so maybe I'll try and grab a bargin if the body is tidy.

There is Barry, The 2 I see today were proper dogs.

I only want a clean body. Mechanical Im not fussed about.

I also need to get the log book changed to 1.8t as the engine size affects my parking permit dramatically.

I'd rather a 4 door as I have kids and would make life a little easier but to be honest I'm not really fussed.

Whats the full spec of yours?

My LCR recently made 275bhp with wheel spin at Bills. It was de-tuned to 262 though.

The one on my car is 12mths old but it's suffered boost creep ever since, Midland Turbo's used a chinese hot side and the wastegate is too small,

Having Dan build me a new genuine one now.
