Title: Best roofracks for MKVII
Post by: Frekk on 23 November 2013, 12:27
I am new to the forum, thanks for an excellent GTI resource!

I have a GTI 5d pp on order for march. I need to fit roofracks for travelling with bikes, and skis in a roof box. What are your recommendations? Which are the lowest profile?

I was thinking about getting some bars and come across these inflatable bars, as I don't have much room for storage think they would be good

I've always had aerobars. Had no problems with them. They're a decent system when combined with the proride holders

I've ended up with a set of genuine vw bars only because the dealership messed up so got them for free. Decent bit of kit but too expensive. Thule bars are the way to go and half the price of genuine vw bars

They would make me very nervous! Not only the friction damage that might occur but what if one got a puncture??

Unlikely but still..

id like to find someone who has used them and can give a decent review on them... as you said about friction damage to the roof last thing you want is to take them off after a few weeks an find your roof is scratched and scuffed
