Hi all.
Can anyone give me an estimated/actual mph/1000rpm for the GTI manual in 6th gear and also the rpm when the limiter kicks in.
I understand that 6th is akin to an overdrive gear.

Surely someone on this forum, with a manual GTI, is able to provide the above info?
-
Not that I have a GTI, but my Scirocco is about 27mph per 1000rpm in 6th. Can't believe the Golf GTI will be to dissimilar.

Hi skippy.
Thanks for your info, and you are not even a GTI owner!!
It beggars believe that of the now substantial numbers of manual GTI owners contributing to this forum, none have been able to provide the above requested info.

No worries Graham,
I don't think it was a case the folk on here were ignoring your post, but just did not have the answer to hand. I took a guess at 27mph, but I can confirm this.
I did buy the VW driver magazine today which has a road test of the GTI PP (seperate thread on this), and within the test for the 6 speed manual it is 27 mph per 1000 rpm in top gear!

Then the gear ratio is pretty short. 54mph in 2000rpm? The mk6 GTI at 2000rpm is doing ~100km/h. Considering the fact that the mk7 have longer ratios (due to consumption, higher max speed in the same rpm with the mk6), it's probably around 32mph/1000rpm. Did the magazine calculated this with the final ratio or the gearbox itself without the diff final ratio???

All it says is, "Road speed per 1000rpm in top gear 27mph/43.6KPH"
