Title: Running indicators as sidelights BUT with indicators still functional?
Post by: spudboy6 on 20 November 2013, 23:19: Basicaly i saw a Mk2 golf in town last night and it has its indicators on all the time so using them as sidelights but when he indicated right the unit still flashed so how does one go about this on a mk3 ?

it quite like the look , ive done a quick google but all the cars ive seen have all been US spec already so not much help or bm's where all the lights are in one lamp anyways not seperate like the mk3

anyone got some advise ?

If you look at second pic, you will notice an extra wire thats for the little side light. It will look like this:

And when indicator is on and flashing, The side light will cancel out.

I doubt it is legal and could be very interesting in a crash if the other driver was to say you were indicating at the time.

Post by: Shizzle on 21 November 2013, 14:08: well a lot of people don't know that they are indicators so wouldn't assume you was indicating as they would think your indicators were in the headlights i don't think this would cause a problem as your side lights are white and indicators are orange.

So why not leave the indicators as they are and add white led's or 5w bulbs/holders to each unit.When indicators are on will they not outdo the white bulbs/led's ?.

I was thinking about it only if you used crystal lights.
