Hi guys,
I purchased a set of Bentley Continental 9j x 19 ET41 to go on my 2009 Gti with 235/35/19 tyres. I only mounted one tyre on Saturday and fitted it on the front however the problem is wheel seems to be sitting to far out, about half a inch outside the arch, has anyone else fitted these wheels or had similar problems.
Thanks

Comparing the size of your new wheels to standard 7.5 x 18 ET51, The face of the wheel will "poke" 41.75mm more than the originals. Did you not do the sums before buying them?
-
They will poke I'm afraid, the offset and width are wrong.
-
I really should have but sadly didn't do the sums. I looked on google and found a few MK6's with the same wheels tucked under the arches. So just presumed they would fit. Maybe they had them skimmed to fit. Any ideas of what I can do guys? Thanks
-
you could get them to fit not with those size tyres on them though, also the ones you have seen probably have camber, arch work rolling and flaring, air suspension which makes a big difference, stretched tyres etc
are you at standard height?
-
Yes I'm on standard suspension but was looking to drop the car on eibach sport lines. I was thinking if I can skim about 10mm off the back of the wheel, roll the arches and run a 225/35/19. Do you think that will do it? Has anyone on this site fitted these wheels or had any experience with them on a mk6? Thanks
-
probably not the best site for fitting those wheels, cant really say without seeing them really, i've just got some 18x8.5 and 18x10 for mine for next year
-
It's for the best Jags, those Bentley's are oversized for the Golf and you will probably get fed up when the ride sucks.
-
Mine are 8.5" x 19", ET52 with 225/35/19 tyres...and it's mm close inside and outside on a lowered GTI.
I doubt you'll get them to fit at all if you actually want to drive the car.
-
Sell them and buy wheels that fit.

Ignore everyone! Boring buggers i bought 10j's all round for my gtd sums? Pfft there for school test fitted one hit the shock sold on for £150 profit :) in hindsight though 8.5 j probs best max width

Ok gents the guy who I brought these wheels off has said he is happy to exchange but not refund them for something else as he sold them to me as a straight fit. He has asked me to decide on another set of wheels. I have seen some 8.5jx19 ET45 rotiform wheels I like. Will these be ok? Or will i need to do modifications again? I don't want to listen to the guy at the tyre shop again. Thanks

You will most probably scuff with ET45 8.5" wide wheels, unless you do arch work.
I know 235 tyres on 8.5" ET52 wheels CAN scuff...so that's 5mm further in/out than I run with 225s...ET45 will need another 2mm of outside clearance and I think the extra couple of mm would give some rubbing.
It's up to you...
I wouldn't risk it.
Unless you want to do arch work to make them fit...as the 'scenesters' do, then you will be OK.

They will fit with some minor arch work and a little more camber.
Sportlines are a 50ish mm drop and this will help with the tuck.
