Hello,i am not your every day joey wanting to change to a bigger engine. I have just purchased a 1400cc Mk4 golf.
has a lot of engine problems, My brother is moving away and has left me his 1800cc gti turbo.
I want engine box loom ect out of 1800cc into my 1400cc.
I know your wondering why not just drive 1800cc? its rotten as a pear! engine has only done 40k miles!! just unfortunately has not been looked after.
Labour time not a problem.
so plan is remove engine ect.... Questions are: I am guessing I will need everything of the front end of the 1800cc into the 1400cc to make the new engine fit?? shafts mounts suspension hubs ect ect....
only other thing I am not sure on, key programed to the ecu? guessing I will need chip out of the GTI!
and, fuel pump??? will that need to be changed to?
Help would be much appreciated.

If you have the complete 1.8t then look to swap everything over as so much is different to the 1.4.
I think the fuel tank is the same but pump will be different.
Also might be best to check your insurance as a first step.
