Title: Rear Brake Discs MK6 Golf
Post by: passant on 16 November 2013, 09:16
My rear brakes (discs and pads) need Changing this weekend the front ones were well easy to do, the rear ones apparently. according to my mate who fits them for me, I need a 'spline' or 'rewind tool' I politely nodded and pretended I knew what he was talking about and said I would get one.

Does anyone know what size I need or even where I can get one of these from?

Car is 2009 MK6 Golf 2.0 GT TDI

Rear disc size 253 mm

Cheers

Tom

You need something like this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Laser-1314-Caliper-Piston-Re-wind/dp/B002V72SHS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1384600146&sr=8-2&keywords=vw+brake+caliper+rewind+tool

Local motor factors, Halfords, Euro Car Parts etc will stock these

Probably best to pop into a store and ask to make sure you get the right one although most are universal

You will also need a splined tool to remove the brake caliper carrier in order to get the disc off. Think its a 10mm spline, but ask someone who knows. You will need some Irn Bru and 3 shredded wheat to remove them - they are tight!

Pretty sure there no spline drive to remove caliper carrier
