Title: VW GOLF "CARBON GTI" IN 2014???

This news item initially came out in September 2012 and since then no other info.

Does anybody have any input on a 200kg light weight "CARBON GTI" version
coming out in 2014 to celebrate the VW GOLf 40 year anniversary (1974-2014)??

Hi,

I doubt this will happen on this generation of Golf due to factory re-tooling and cost.
it was the GTi's 35th Anniversary on 2011 so I would say it would be 2015/16 before we see the next Anniversary edition.

The 40th anniversary, 1974-2014, is in reference to the VW Golf not the GTI!

Misread that. You're right. '74 for the Golf '76 for the GTI.
