Title: Personalised number plate - how quickly can I put on to new (used) purchase ?
Post by: mwad gti on 08 November 2013, 16:46
HI

I have a personalised number plate on retention.
I am buying an Audi TT tomorrw and want to get the number plate on ASAP

Can I go to my local DVLA office with MOT cert/Tax disc etc and immediately apply to put plate on the car using the new keepers part of the log book only, or do I have to wait unitl I receive the full log book back from the DVLA and then do it ?

Please help

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,

Once you have received the V11 form, you can get the plates made up..I just went to the DVLA, handed in my old tax disc and they printed a new one reflecting the new reg.

Hope that helps.

That was quick, thanks Irfan

So I need to wait until I get the logbook back from the DVLA before I can do anything ?

(Got the plates, I've had the reg 12 years or so)

Yes, needs to be fully in your name first.

I did mine using the green slip the day I picked my new car up. I've got 2 V5's for it now. One that came about a week later with it's original number plate on and a second one the next day, with my number plate on and a note telling me to destroy the first one.

The local DVLA offices are phasing out the 'instant changes' that we all loved. Birmingham for example is now just a paper checking operation; they send off all the paperwork you take in

I have just applied for a personal plate to be put on a car. Sent it to the DVLA last Friday, V5 came yesterday, the tax disc today
