Hi
I have a Midland VW remap on my car (1.8t AUM), If I disconnect the battery for a few hours will I lose remap if the ECU resets?
Thanks

Ah the good old wives tale of the remapping world
No

Great, thanks!
Is the remap safe because it has completely replaced the original map, and the original map no longer exists?
-
The tuner would have taken a copy but that's a standard thing with remaps, the original map is mapped over hence the name remap.
Perfectly safe if it was done by a reputable place and is a good map.

I think he means safe as in its not gonna get lost like when you put money in a safe haha
But yeah OP your correct it's safe because it has replaced the original map therefore it can't be lost as it's the only thing on the Ecu haha

Yeh I meant is it safe as in it won't be lost, not is the map safe for my car lol.
The map was very professionally done and has been great since I've had it!
Thanks for the replies.

I think its only certain maps that do,
I removed my battery for a day whilst doing my clutch, Once refitted the car was lacking the power it had.
After visiting Badger5 it turns out that the Revo map had reset and was in Standard mode. Bill kindly turned it back on so some software does reset. I have a really early Revo map. Will be going custom at Bills once I have my turbo back from Dan@BBT

yeah some revo maps reset.
my mate had one. he disconnected battery to install sub. once connected car felt standard. he managed to get it sorted FOC but was told if he disconnected battery and lost the map again he would have to pay for the map which i think is rediculous
