Title: 150 PD Turbo Failure - Bearings worn
Post by: Jayman79 on 08 November 2013, 13:30
Hi peeps,

Today is a grim day, my turbo has packed up at the worst possible time and was wondering what are the options.  I'm being quoted 300 just to refurb or 380 for a budget running all the way up to 600 for a brand new one. The car done 145k, looked after in the 4yrs I had it.  Anyone know what one would go for needing a new turbo?  Anyone fancy buying a golf needing a new turbo?

Thanks in advance and if any one has a similar experience then would love to hear what you did.

many thanks,

AJ

Look around for a second hand one maybe.  :lipsrsealed:

I guess it depends on how much you want to keep the car. You won't get anyone buying it with a blown turbo for much. Perhaps best of breaking it?

Egay has a few good ones pop up now and then...Or maybe spend £1200 and get darkside to fit a new, possibly bigger, turbo...

Sounds like a good reason to get a hybrid!
