Car has just got hot then went to fill up and just spits all its water out what could this be.
-
broken water pump?
-
Realoy well when you drive does go down just realised fan was not kicking in but I pulles some wires about put fuse in and out and it came on I was thinking thermostat stuck closed.
Or dodgy water temp sensor givomg false readding.
-
Whats the temp gauge doing?
-
Going up the fan come on eventually but not always comming on causing it to overheat temp gauge just goes up until I refill with water and goes down again but fan stops and overheats.
-
With the cooling fan if it is not cutting in try wiggle the multiplug that connects to the fan if it then comes on the problem is the connection built into the fan. My car would start to overheat then all of the sudden the temputure would drop and then it would go back up to overheating this mainly happened when I was stuck in traffic it would overheat try this and if thats the problem replace the fan
-
I have a spare fan at work so will replace tommorow thank you for replies.
-
Its pretty straight forward to do the fan the only tricky bit is the fan shround clip cover is quite easy to break how much did it cost to get the banded steelies :)
-
I payed £400 he supplied the wheels banded them and custom painyed them and delivered them
-
Jesus expensive I have a grey la7u valver aswell the colours hasw grown on me as I did have a 8v dragon green golf
-
Yeh I really like the grey the centre of my branded steels are grey
-
Best mk3 colour imo.
-
just changed thermostat and temp sensor has not cured the problem could there be anything else to cause this or is this water pump?
Could the system need bleeding i know some cars can be a pin in the bum.
-
An airlock could be the issue but I've never found them to be a problem on any of the mk3's ive owned and all of them have had the coolant changed for various reasons.
-
Do you have coolant flowing back to the exp bottle through the small hose?
-
I havmt checked atm done some work on it last night seemed ok done about 5 miles today then over heated bridged some wires on the fan heating on full and that kept temprture donw but its the fan that is not kicking in when hot.
-
turns out to be a blockage in the return pipe on header tank put a airline on it blew half my water out the header tank but has done the job all fixed not water pump thank god thanks for all you replies very helpful.
