Title: changed burnt out airbag bulb-now it flashes 6 times on startup

chaged bulb and now it flashes 6 times on starup and then goes out. Tried U281 fault code reader-no codes come up.
What could be the problem?
I have a disabled passenger airbag.
Car is a 96 passat estate.
any help would be appreciated

Your passenger airbag has been deactivated so a child seat could be fitted in front seat

yes that is correct. but i am not sure if the light is supposed to flash six times on startup. so I want to make sure that is the reason why so mot time it will be ok rather than a fail. I've read in the testers manual tgat an inoperative mot light is just an advisory. strange but true. so just being careful before mot time.

That's why it flashes 6 times, to tell you it's de-activated

awesome then it is not a fail!wonder why it never did it in the past and just went off as normal on startup. I can fearlessly take the car for MOT!
