Title: MFA - Anyone got this problem?
Post by: naut2k5 on 22 August 2005, 15:02
Hey all

Anyway one experienced this ... I am referring to the MPG readout ... Mine used to be fine and read 35ish (which I am sure was right)  Just before my engine decided to fill itself with petrol it was reading about 10-12.

Im not sure if this was because of 1 wire which I reconnected up in the engine bay to where I thought it would go (I hope I got it in the right place - but am unsure - it was originally disconnected!!)

So guys, where exactly is this wire or wires for the readouts on the mfa, wanna make sure mine are all ok - pics would be cool if anyone has any - I will post mine later to see if anyone notices major problems

Cheers d000ds

there should be a black wire that connects to the rocker cover plate. the plate is on the back right hand side of the rocker cover

i thought the MPG was fed by a tille vacuum hose going from the inlet manifold/throttle body to the back of the clocks. if this splits or comes loose it'll give you a dodgy reading. check for a hose going through a rubber grommet towards the clocks.

gtijoe is right. It's a vacuum line to the back of the clocks. Have you tried resetting the clocks? i.e pulling the fuse out for an hour, and if that doesn't work over night. It's second from right, fuse 21, on my 91 plate.

There is an earth connection for the clocks from the back of the rocker cover, it should be bolted from the plate that Bling Blue Mk2 mentioned to one of the the coil bracket bolts.
