Very similar method. Some people have used washers on the bolts too.

If you going for the washer idea then you will need longer high tensile bolts.

Just done this last week. Its easy....once you get past the caliper carrier bolts. I followed these instructions.

http://www.gti-vr6.net/library/suspension/inst_rear_shims/

http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?257949-HOW-TO-Fit-Adjustable-camber-toe-EZ-Shims-to-the-rear-beam-stub-axle

If you're lowered, set them to 22/22 on the passenger side and 18/18 on drivers, numbers facing you. This gives max camber with no toe change.

If your low on the back. Say 16" wheels with at least half the tyre in the arch then its 23/23 and 17/17

I went through 3 sets to get it right.

Something else I learnt that was useful is to superglue them together before you cut them up. Then once ready to go on the car, again glue in position on the beam. Makes assembly a lot easier.

Yeah I dabbed a little glue on them as had to cut a big chunk out for the abs sensor.
